Losing My Profession

A new website, Common Edge, has commissioned and published an article by me that describes a drift away from building as the prime focus of architecture to accommodate the ever decreasing need for architects and the rising desire of people to have architecture in their lives – not unlike music, painting, athletics or religion: while a small percent of all these interests have people earning a living practicing their craft, the vast majority do not: so they become a lifestyle choice, rather that a profession: and this seems to be architecture’s fate.
